Bernard J. "Ben" Sment

Bernard J. “Ben” Sment 93 of Peru. Died 1:20 AM September 20, 2016 in St Francis Medical Center Peoria. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Thursday at St Valentine Church. Monsignor J. Brian Rejsek will officiate. Burial will be in St Hyacinth Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday morning in the church from 9:00 till time of services. Ptak funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Ben was born March 4, 1923 in La Salle to Marion “Bob” and Martha (Studzinski) Sment. He married Antoinette “Toni” Postula May 27, 1950 at St Valentine Church. Ben retired from United Silica in Ottawa as a purchasing agent after 30 years. He was a member of St Valentine Church. Ben was an avid Bowler in the area for many years. He also was a big Cub and Bears Fan. Ben is survived by his sister Marie Tomko of Plainfield. His sister in law Vivian Leonatti of Spring Valley and a brother in law Joe Postula of La Salle and several nieces and nephews. Ben was preceded in death his wife in 2011 and 1 brother Ralph.
