Bruce Robert Lungwitz, 68, of Peru, passed away peacefully at 5:10 pm, January 8, 2014 in his home surrounded by his family.
Private Graveside services will be at Peru City Cemetery at a later date. Peru Veterans Memorial Group will conduct Graveside services. Ptak Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Bruce was born April 12, 1945 in Fond du lac, Wis. to Robert and Vivian (Duerr) Lungwitz. He married Mary Ellen Buczkowski July 7, 1978 at St John’s Lutheran Church in Peru. He was a veteran of US Air Force, serving overseas in Okinawa, Japan during the Vietnam war.
He was a truck driver for Tobler Transfer from 1967-1985 and then worked for City of Peru from 1985-1990, and then USF Holland from 1990 until his retirement in 2003. He was a member of the Teamsters #325, American Legion and NRA. His passions were fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Mary “Punky” Lungwitz of Peru, three daughters; Jacqueline (James Wawrzyniak) Lungwitz of Peru, Christina Lungwitz of Peru and Tami (Jared Brown) Lungwitz of Chicago, two grandchildren; Kyle Joseph Lungwitz and Lily Mina Wawrzyniak, one brother; Allen (Sandy) Lungwitz of Peru, three sisters; Diane (John) Zulkowsky of Peru, Susan (Ross) Weber of Peru and Sherry (John) Daly of Aurora.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Gary Lungwitz.
