Carol Mary (Clydesdale) Dean, age 75, passed away at Heritage Health in Peru, Illinois on June 22nd, 2023 after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her partner Scott Gingerich (2010) and her beloved parents.
Carol was born on April 7th, 1948 to Thomas Clydesdale and Cecilia (Rudzinski) Clydesdale. She was raised in the Illinois Valley and graduated from LP High School. Carol was an only child who loved the outdoors. She spent her summers boating, swimming, and working as a lifeguard.
Carol became a proud stay-at-home mom for many years after which she pursued cosmetology. Her young family were devoted members at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in LaSalle. Carol enjoyed camping with her family, tending to her menagerie of houseplants, and dabbling in photography.
Later in life, Carol became a valuable member of the JDS Office Products team in Ottawa. She worked for the company as their primary buyer for many years until their closure and her subsequent retirement. She then devoted her time to travelling, boating, and playing dice games.
Carol is survived by (1) son Corey (Caryn) Dean of Villa Park, Illinois and (1) daughter Shelly (Alex) Garncarz of Peru, Illinois. She also leaves behind (5) grandchildren: Alexander Dean, Benjamin Dean, Penelope Dean, Caidin Garncarz, and Camri Garncarz.
A Memorial Ceremony officiated by Reverend Kay Harding will be held for Carol on July 6th at the Ptak Funeral Home in Peru at 11am. Visitation will precede the memorial from 9-11 in the Funeral Home. Private cremation rights and burial will be scheduled by the family at a later date.
