Cecele A. “Sissy” Gum 79 of Peru. Died 5:59 PM May 11, 2016 in OSF in Peoria.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday 12:00 PM Noon in St Valentine Church. Monsignor J. Brian Rejsek will officiate. Burial will be in St Valentine Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday in the church from 10:00 AM till time of services. Ptak Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Sissy was born December 16, 1936 in Peru to Frank and Julia (Hobneck) Kulpa. She married Marvin Gum July 20, 1957 in Peoria. Sissy was a 1952 graduate of St Joseph Commercial School.
She worked as a cafeteria Manager for Peru Washington Grade School for over 20 years and then worked as an office clerk for Hometown Bank in La Salle up till her retirement. She was a lifelong member of St Valentine Church and was co- founder of the Peru Girls Softball League.
Sissy possessed a loving, generous spirit that positively influenced her family and friends. She regularly expressed to her family, and others, the great love and affection she had for each of them. Sissy enjoyed spending time with her family and many dear friends. In addition, she loved to read, play bingo, watch the Cubs and White Sox, and make “Grandma Dip”. She regularly attended Mass and participated in the Sacraments. Christmas was Sissy’s favorite holiday and her beautifully wrapped presents and hand-made bows will always be remembered.
Sissy is survived by her Husband Marvin of Peru. 2 daughters Tina (Tom) Jaskowiak of Downers Grove and Lynne (Dean) Talbott of Bloomington, IL, 1 son Scott (Margaret) Gum of Troy, IL. Her six grandchildren Julia, John, Mary Kathryn, Caroline, Owen and Lucas. 3 Brothers Ron “Koko” (Carol) Kulpa of Oglesby, Bill (Jolene) Kulpa of Spring Valley and John (Marlyn) Kulpa of Lostant.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pallbearers will be Scott Gum, Dean Talbott, Tom Jaskowiak, John Jaskowiak Owen Talbott and Lucas Gum.
