After along and full life, Clara D. Parat of Peru. Passed away at 11:45 pm March 7, 2013.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday 11:00 am in St Mary’s Church Peru. Rev William Gardner will officiate. Burial will be in St Valentine Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday 5-8 pm in the Ptak Funeral Home, the rosary will be recited at 5:00 pm, and there will also be a visitation Saturday morning in the church from 10 till time of services.
She was born September 17, 1917 in Oglesby to John and Antoinette (Kruswicki) Domkowski. Clara was the fifth of twelve children. She was raised in Oglesby, receiving her education from Oglesby Washington Grade School and La Salle-Peru High School.
Clara worked in Chicago as a nanny before returning to her home town area where she was employed at Westclox She played many years on the Westclox Softball team, her favorite sport.
On September 14, 1940 she married John E. Parat of Peru in Holy Family Church Oglesby. They were the Proprietors of Parat’s Tavern on Prospect Avenue in Peru for 38 years. Parat’s was a neighborhood favorite in Peru and Clara will always be remembered for their famous Friday night fish fry.
Clara was a member of St Valentine Church, the Mother’s Club, Holy Rosary Society, Polish National Alliance and the St Bede Mother’s Club.
She is preceded in death by her husband John in 1984 and 1 granddaughter Marcey Jo Valle.
She is survived by her son John of prospect Heights, IL 2 daughter Joan (Marion) Valle of Chicago and Kathy (Merle) Eglet of Kirkland, WA. Clara was the proud grandmother to Mark Valle, Michelle Kash, Melissa Tower, Stephanie Ryder Brooke Boling and a stepson Robert Eglet. Clara was blessed with 9 Great Grandchildren and 3 Step Great Grandchildren. 2 sisters Ceil Dopkus of Spring Valley and Kathryn Compell of Chicago.
