Constance “Connie” (Helsley) Strait, 69 of La Salle. Died 1:41 AM June 3, 2014 at Richard Owens Hospice Care Peoria. Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday June 7, 2014 at Ptak Funeral Home. Pastor Lloyd Curry will officiate. Burial will be at Peru City cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10-11 AM in the funeral Home. Connie was born April 11, 1945 to Paul and Dora (Brittingham) Helsley. She married James “Mike” Strait May 25, 1991 in Peru. She worked at National Metal Wares in La Salle and then retired from Wal-Mart where she worked many years in the craft department and as a greeter. She was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagle’s #2688 Ladies Aux. and volunteered at the PADS Homeless Shelter for many years. She is survived by 2 daughters Valerie Dorsett of La Salle and Colleen (Roger) Petree of Dwight. 2 Sons Hank and Doug Dorsett of La Salle. 7 sisters Ellen “Tootie” Illman, Judy Rohdie, Jackie Sawicki, Paulette Schauer, Billie Bradley, Linda Tinsley and Donna Helsley. 3 Brother’s John, Russell and Donald Helsley. Grandchildren Brittany and Cristal Pratt- Mendez, Josh, Mando and Trisha Domingez, Mikey and Casey Mateika, Tiffany, Lynzie and Jermey Dickerson, Natasha, Keisha and Bruce Acuff and Gaige and Dorothy Dorsett. Great Grandchildren Blake, Daniel, Brayden, Adrianna, James, Zoe, Kelsie, Gaige and Dustyn. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mike. 1 Daughter Cheryl Renee Mateika, 1 GranddaughterTanya Ray Pratt. 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
