Edward J. Mathis 92 of Henry, IL. Passed away September 10, 2023, in Henry Nursing and Rehab Center.

Funeral service will 11:00 AM Thursday September 14, 2023, in the Henry United Methodist Church in Henry, IL. Rev Cathy Duffy will officiate. The burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Henry American Legion will conduct a flag folding Ceremony.

The visitation will be Thursday morning in the church from 10:00-11:00 AM.

Edward was born April 6, 1931, in Henry to George and Amy (Johnson) Mathis. He served in the US Air Force. He married Frances Myers on August 10,1951 in Varna, IL. Edward was an Auto mechanic at Kleins Auto in Henry and owned and operated his own auto service Garage in Henry for many years and then retired from S&K Chevrolet in Peoria.

He was a member of Henry United Methodist Church and a lifetime Member of Henry American Legion. He also served on the Henry City Council for two terms.

Edward is survived by his 2 sons Michael (Robin) Mathis of Normal and Allan (Carol) Mathis of Henry. 7 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild.

Edward was preceded in death by his wife in 2011, his daughter Barbara Benvenuti. 1 Brother, 1 sister and 2 Grandchildren.
