George C. Dowell

George C. Dowell, 92 of Peru. Passed away January 18, 2025, in St Anthony Medical Center Rockford, IL.

George was born October 18,1932 in Peru to Clark and Celina Dowell. He attended public schools in Peru and La Salle- Peru High School. He joined the Army in September 1953 and was discharged August 1955. He served in Germany as an Armorer where he began his enthusiasm for guns.

Upon his return home he later owned and operated West End Marine in Spring Valley, IL, where he sold boats and serviced automobiles until closing in the early 1970’s.

George loved life to the fullest, always up for a good time, which quite often he provided the laughs. Over the years he had many interests including hunting, fishing, boating, golfing and dirt bike riding. He was a true Man’s man and there was no project he would not take on. He loved spending time with friends and family, reminiscing about the good times, he will be missed by all who knew him.

George is survived by his son and friend Randy (Connie Spanos) Dowell, his loving partner of many years, Pam Hurley, and their Shih Tzu, Zoey.

George was preceded in death by his parents his sister Rosemary and his son Rick.

Per George’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded, and there will be no services. Rest in Peace, George, you will forever be missed.
