Gloria A. Steichen

Gloria Steichen, 93, of La Salle, passed away March 19, 2024, in her home surrounded by her daughters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Friday March 22, 2024, in St Patrick Church. Rev Thomas Otto will officiate. Burial will be in St Vincent Cemetery.

 The visitation will be on Friday in the church from 9: 30 AM – 11:00 AM. There will be a Rosary service at 9:00 AM. Ptak Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Gloria was born February 22,1931 in Aurora, IL to Michael and Ida (Ogren) Frieders. She married Donald Steichen April 11, 1953, in St Mary Church in Aurora. She was a graduate of Madonna High School and St Charles Hospital School of Nursing in Aurora. Gloria worked as a registered Nurse in Aurora and St Mary’s Hospital in La Salle and IVCH in Peru.

She was a member of St Patrick Church, Past President of St Anne’s Sodality from 1967-1969.She was a Former volunteer at the Red Cross, St Bede Academy and St Patrick Church. She enjoyed traveling, reading, spending time with family and friends and a good cocktail.

Gloria is survived by her four daughters Gail (Greg) Pyszka of Peru, Lynn (Dave) Wyzgowski of Chillicothe, IL, Paula (John) Toraason of Peru and Mary (Tim) Burgess of Utica, Il. Grandchildren Bryan (Abby) Pyszka, Todd Pyszka, Elizabeth (Jonathan) Geddes, Mark Wyzgowski, Nick (Kallie) Wyzgowski, Michael (Emily) Toraason, Katherine (Andrew) Koyak, Bridget Suarez and Erica Burgess. 15 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great- Great Grandchildren and 1 nephew Daniel Frieders.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband Donald in 2017 and 1 Brother Gerald Frieders.

Memorials may be directed to the family for St Bede Academy and St Patrick Church.
