Jim Piwonski 85 of Peru. Died March 4,2017 in St Margaret’s Hospital Spring Valley.
Services will be 9:30 AM Wednesday in the Ptak Funeral Home followed by a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St Valentine Church. The Monsignor J. Brian Rejsek will officiate. Burial will be a later date in St Valentine Cemetery. The Peru Veterans Memorial Group will conduct a flag folding service following the mass. Cremation rites will follow the service at Church.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 PM in the Ptak funeral Home with a 7:00 PM Prayer service. There will be an additional visitation Wednesday morning from 9:00- 9:30 in the funeral home.
Jim was born September 24,1931 in Peru to Andrew J. and Anna (Nimiec) Piwonski. He married Kay Smith April 17,1966 in St Valentine Church. Jim worked at Westclox right out of High School. He then went on to serve in the Army during the Korean war. Jim worked as an Ironworker for local #386 up till retirement.
Jim was a member of St Valentine Church, Ironworkers Local #386 and La Salle VFW.
Jim is survived by his wife Kay of Peru. 3 daughters Paula (Marty) Burolla of Austin, TX, Jennifer (Steve) Gunderson of Midlothian, VA. and Susan (Tim) Anderson of Chester, VA. 1 son James W. Piwonski of Sterling, VA. Jim is also survived by his 7 Grandchildren, 3 sisters Janette Korosec of Peru, Wanda Broviak of Peru and Tina Dittmar of Laguna Nigel, CA. and 1 brother Al (Sally) Piwonski of Peru.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 1 brother.
