Joan Spayer 84 of La Salle was able to rise up and walk again hand-in hand- to her final journey with her husband Eugene and their son John who proceeded in her death. Joan Passed peacefully on Sunday December 7, 2014 at 8:20 PM in Heritage Health Care Center La Salle after an extended illness. Services will be 7:00 PM Tuesday December 16, 2014 in Ptak Funeral Home. Pastor Betty Delgado will officiate. Burial will be private at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-7 PM in Ptak Funeral Home. Joan was born September 15, 1930 in La Salle to Frank and Helen Hrovat. She married Eugene Spayer April 22, 1950 in St Roch’s Church. Joan worked as a telephone operator for Illinois Bell, then at Prince Castle in La Salle where she met her lifetime companion Eugene. For many years Eugene and Joan owned and operated Gene’s Cities Service in La Salle which later became Gene’s Sunoco Service that brought many fond memories for our family as well as their many loyal friends. Survivors include her son Terry (Carol) Spayer of Peoria. 4 Grandchildren Todd (Denise Ekstam) Spayer of Oglesby Curt (Ashley) Spayer of La Salle ,Megan (Patrick) Couri of Peoria and Micah Spayer of New York City. 4 Great Grandchildren Doug, Jackson, Elijiah and Lyndin. Memorials may be directed to Heritage Health Care La Salle or 2nd Hand Ranch Dog Rescue.
