John J. Krystofek 89 of Peru. Died July 7, 2016 in St Francis Medical Center Peoria.
Services will be Tuesday 9:30 AM in the Ptak Funeral home with a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St Hyacinth Church LaSalle. Monsignor J. Brian Rejsek will officiate. Burial will be in St Hyacinth cemetery La Salle. The Peru Veterans Memorial Group will conduct Graveside Military Honors.
Visitation will be Monday from 5-8 PM in the funeral home with a 7: 00 PM prayer service.
John was born October 9, 1926 in Peru to Joseph and Agnes (Mikus) Krystofek. He married Anna Nedza April 6, 1947 in St Hyacinth Church La Salle. He served in the Navy during WW II, serving in the Pacific Theatre from 1944-1946. John worked at Westclox for 25 years. He then owned and operated the White Way tavern in Peru for 14 years and then owned and operated John and Ann’s Tavern in La Salle up till his retirement.
He was a member of St Valentine Church, Peru VFW and CWV. John was an avid lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs.
John is survived by his wife Anna of Peru. 2 daughters Beverly (Rick) Snyder of Davenport, IA and Sheila Krystofek of Davenport, IA. 3 granddaughters Ann Snyder, Tammy Waldbusser and Deanne Nelson and 6 Great Grandchildren and 1 sister Sophie Ratajczak of La Salle.
He was preceded in death by 1 sister and 2 brothers.
Pallbearers will be Shane Link, Ann Snyder, Tammy Waldbusser, Mitch Waldbusser and Ray Brucki.
