Joseph Bernard Sigmund

Joseph Sigmund, 86 of LaSalle, passed away February 21, at 1:52 AM in St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in St. Valentine Church, Peru. Monsignor J. Brian Rejsek will officiate. Burial will be in St Valentine Cemetery. Full military honors will be accorded by members of the LaSalle Oglesby Veterans group. Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Wednesday in the church. Ptak Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. He was born in Peru on August 18, 1929 to Frank and Anna (Kulpa) Sigmund. He Married Florence Donna in 1954 at St. Anthony Church in Spring Valley. Florence preceded him in 1983. He worked at Hummer-Turk Furniture for over 30 years and also ran his own business Sigmund Furniture repair and carpet cleaning. He was the past commander of LaSalle VFW Post 4668. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the St. Valentine’s church. He is Survived by two sons Joseph (Sandra) of Peru; Steve of LaSalle and one daughter Sue of LaSalle; two grandchildren Anna and Gina Sigmund of Peru. One sister Virginia Edgcomb of Kissimmee, Florida. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
