Judith Kay Gedraitis 55 of Peru. Died December 2, 2013 in London, England.
Memorial Mass will be 11:00 am Saturday December 21 at St Hyacinth Church. The Rev Antonio Dittmer, Rev Paul Meismer and Rev Ronald Margherio OSB will con Celebrate. Burial will follow at St Hyacinth Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 am till time of services in the church. Cremation rites have been accorded. Ptak Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Judith was born October 3, 1958 in Spring Valley to John and Liza (Wold) Walton. One of five sisters, she grew up in Peru. She married Mark Gedraitis November 23, 1984 in Woodstock, IL. A devoted Catholic, she was a member of St. Hyacinth Church. She was a fervent reader as well as a burgeoning traveler, having recently visited Ireland, Poland, and Italy with her husband and daughter.
She graduated with the first class of girls from St Bede Academy and afterwards attended IVCC. Having changed careers later in life, she went on to achieve a Bachelors degree and a Masters degree in English at Illinois State University. She spent the last seven years as an English Teacher at Putnam County High School. Here, she found her vocation in facilitating and expanding students’ exposure to literature and language. She was truly fulfilled with her chosen profession.
Survivors include her mother Liza Wold of Ottawa, husband Mark of Peru, 1 daughter Ashley (Gustav) Gedraitis Polisano of London, England 1 stepson Jason (Jennifer) Gedraitis of Dunlap, IL. 5 Grandchildren Matthew, Allison, Jack, Julie and Luke Gedraitis. 4 sisters Pam (Dan) Larkin of Anderson, SC., Peggy (Ed) Hylla of La Salle, Terri (Paul) Barron of Greenville, SC and Kim (Jeff) Lundy of Ottawa, Il
She was preceded in death by her father and step father.
