Margaret Fitzsimmons Frost
1958-2022
Margaret “Maggie” Frost, 63, of LaSalle, passed away on July 14, 2022, at Heritage Health in Peru.
Maggie was born on December 5, 1958 to William and Marie (Gaus) Fitzsimmons. She attended LP High School and was hooked by the theater. Maggie played in and directed many local plays and musicals, starting in high school. She met her husband John at one such play, Deathtrap. Maggie directed the play and John’s character was Clifford Anderson. Maggie was employed as a journalist for The Times newspaper, radio announcer on WLPO, and most recently as host of The Morning Mix on WCMY radio.
Maggie loved her animals. She and John adopted both dogs and cats throughout their live, loving and caring for them together.
Maggie lost her dear husband five weeks before losing her own battle with cancer. She is survived by her stepsiblings, William (Nuala) Schmitt, Patrick (Irene Schauer) Schmitt, David (Beth Patterson) Schmitt, and Julia Schmitt. She is also survived by her aunt, Jean Fitzsimmons and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Maggie was preceded in death by her mother, father, step-mother (Madge Schmitt Fitzsimmons), uncle (James Fitzsimmons), and her beloved husband.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Illinois Valley Pet Rescue, The Times Red Stocking Fund or WCMY’s Freezin’ for a Reason.
Memorial service will be 1:00 PM Wednesday August 10, 2022 in Ptak Funeral Home. Rev Tom Otto will officiate.
Visitation will be Wednesday 11:00 AM till time of services. Burial will be at Mt Olivet Cemetery Spring Valley. Cremation rites have been accorded. Ptak Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
