Paul K. Zawacki 77 of Peru. Passed away on May 26, 2024, in Manor Court of Peru.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, in Ptak Funeral Home. Burial will be at Peru City Cemetery. The Peru Veterans Memorial Group will conduct Military Honors.
The visitation will be on Wednesday in the funeral home from 9-11 AM. Ptak Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Paul was born March 3, 1947, in La Salle to Paul T. and Margery (Lucas) Zawacki. He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the Air Force from 1968-1972. He retired from Sundstrand in La Salle.
Paul was a gentle man who enjoyed spending time with all of his family and was grateful to have served his country. He had a love of classic cars and enjoyed the design and history of unique firearms. He also was extremely fond of spending time with his brothers, family, and friends. In his younger years, he enjoyed collaborating mechanically with his Grandfather Zawacki, concerning vintage muscle car design and performance. Paul was the eldest grandchild of the large Irish Lucas family. He was a loyal and committed son, brother, brother in-law, cousin, uncle, great uncle, neighbor, and friend. He will be missed invariably.
Paul is survived by his brothers Jim (Tami) Zawacki of Princeton, Tom (Kathryn) Zawacki of Spring Valley, and Bob (Debbie) Zawacki of Peru. Nieces and nephews: Angela (Robert) Downing, Brett (Lexi) Zawacki and Brittany Zawacki. Great Nieces and nephews: Allison Downing, Alexi Downing, Jake Downing, Luke Zawacki, and Leni Jo Zawacki.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
