Richard J. Kowalczyk

Richard J. Kowalczyk 83 of Peru. Died January 25, 2018 in his home. Services will be Thursday 9:30 am in the Ptak funeral home followed by a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at St Valentine Church. Monsignor Richard Soseman will officiate. Burial will be at St Valentine Cemetery. The Peru Veterans Memorial Group will conduct graveside Military Honors. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home with a 7:00 pm prayer service. There will also be an additional visitation Thursday morning from 9:00 -9:30 am in the funeral home. Richard was born October 21, 1934, in Peru to John and Helen (Gorczyca) Kowalczyk. Richard served in the Army Reserves fro 5 years. He worked as a Machinist for Caterpillar in Aurora and then worked Sundstrand in Peru up till his retirement. He was a member of St Valentine Church. Richard is survived by 2 daughters Kris (Wendy) Matson of Oglesby, Carrie (Gordy) Parks of La Salle. 3 Sons John (Jill) Kowalczyk of Florida, Gary (Brenda) Kowalczyk of Indiana and Donnie (Arlette) Kowalczyk of Peru. 7 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren. 1 brother Donald “Dima” (Lucille) Kowalczyk of Peru. Richard was preceded in death by 1 grandson, 3 sisters, and 5 brothers.
