Robert J. “Bob” Fajman 81 of La Salle. Died April 4,2017 at the La Salle Veterans Home.
Memorial Mass will be 10:00 AM Saturday at St Valentine Church. Monsignor J. Brian Rejsek and Rev Gregory Jarzombek OSB will con Celebrate. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be at St Hyacinth Cemetery with the Peru Veterans Memorial Group will conduct graveside military honors.
Memorial Visitation will be Saturday in the church from 9-10 AM. Ptak Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Bob was born May 25,1935 in Humphrey, NE to Merlin and Betty (Fajman) Griffith. He married Jean E. Butcher October 20,1956 in Chicago. Bob served in the army during the Korean War. He served from 1954 to 1956 and was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Bob worked for Union Carbide in East Chicago, Ottawa and Connecticut, retiring as plant supervisor. After retirement, he moved to Leesburg, FLA.
Bob enjoyed the shooting range, Bowling and fishing. He was an avid Florida Gator fan, Chicago Bears, White sox and Cubs fan.
Bob is survived by his daughters Corinne (Randy) Tomaseski of LaSalle, Ellen (Joseph) Morrone of Manchester, Conn., and Paula Briggs of Minneola, FL. His grandchildren Stephen (Mandy) Tomaseski, Adam Tomaseski, Raymond Tomaseski and Bryan Tomaseski. Amber Morrone and Joey Morrone and Jake Briggs. His great Grandchildren Jonathan, Taylor, Caleb, Evan, Paige, Madison, Tripp and Rayna. He is also survived by 2 brothers Larry Griffith and Roger Griffith and 2 sisters Jackie Manuel and Jeanine Garman.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Jean in 2016, 1 brother and 3 sisters.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Illinois Veterans Home of La Salle.
