Roger E. Urban

Roger E. Urban 81 of Peru. Died August 7, 2021, in St Francis Medical Center Peoria. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 11, 2021, in St Valentine Church. Rev Gary Blake will officiate. Burial will be at St Valentine Cemetery with full military honors by the Peru Veterans Memorial Group. Visitation will be Wednesday in the church from 9:30 AM till the time of services. Ptak Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Roger was born June 14, 1940, in St Louis, MO to Pearl Urban. Roger retired as a Sergeant First Class Officer following a 20 Year Career with the Army. He served a tour in Germany and 2 tours in Vietnam. Roger received a Purple Heart and 2 Bronze Stars and Gallantry Cross with Bars. He also received a Meritorious Service Medal. After his military career, Roger was a La Salle County Sheriff Deputy for many years. He was a lifelong member of St Valentine Church where he served as Eucharistic Minister and Lecter for many years. He was a member of Peru VFW #8232. Roger is survived by his cousins Kathryn (Jack) Cantlin, Mary (Bob) Suarez, and Jill (Don) Bollis, and numerous other cousins. He was also survived by his dog Choppa.
