Roma Brown

Gladys Roma Brown 87 of Peru passed away peacefully after an extended illness on February 6, 2014 at her son Shane and daughter in law Karie’s home with her children by her side. Services will be Monday 11:00 am in Zion United Church in Peru. Pastor Kay Harding will officiate. Burial will be at Peru City Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday morning in the church from 9:00 am till time of services. Ptak Funeral home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Roma was born January 23, 1927 in Bridgewater, Somerset, England to Henry and Delsie (Caunter) Dight. She married James Prescott Brown October 29, 1953 in England and then moved to Peru. She was a member of Zion United Church in Peru and the English Women’s Club. Surviving family members include son Philip (Cindy) Brown of Nashville, TN., daughter Sherry (Peter) Rubins of San Antonio, TX. Son Shawn (Penny) Brown of Glenwood Springs, Co. and Son Shane (Karie) Brown of Cary, IL. Grandchildren Elaine Brown, Haley, Colin and Jake Brown and Matthew Rubins as well as Step Grandchildren Baxter Keyes, Lori Hildebrandt, Timothy and Rachel Kelly and step great grandchildren Kailee Hildebrandt and Noah Keller. Nieces and nephews Sandra and Ken Morris, Gary and Lenka Coton, Nigel, Nina, Elizabeth and Oliver Coton, Fiona and John Baker and Lawrence Coton of England. She is preceded in death by her Parents, husband Jimmy, her mother and father in law William and Gladys Mary Brown, her sister Peggy (Dight) Coton, brother in law Lionel Coton and step grandson Thomas Hildebrandt. Pallbearers will be Shawn Brown, Haley Brown, Peter Rubins, Timothy Kelly, David Peterson and Phillip Brown.
