Theresa Marie Filas 89 of Peru. Died at 9:52 AM November 27, 2014 in Heritage Heath Care Center Peru. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Saturday Dec. 6 in St Valentine Church. Msgr. J. Brian Rejsek will officiate. Burial will be in Ladd Cemetery. Visitation will be in the church Saturday morning from 10:00-11:00 AM. Ptak Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Theresa was born June 15, 1925 in Ladd to Abramo and Emilia (Righetti) Biagioli. She married Raymond A. Filas June 14, 1974 in St Joseph Church in Peru. Theresa taught in Peru Elementary school System for 42 years. She received her BA from St Ambrose University in Davenport IA. and her Masters of Arts degree from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, WS. She was a life member of the National Education Association and also the Illinois Retired Teachers Association. She was a past member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Gamma Delta Chapter. She also has been a Eucharistic Minister and Lector at St Valentine Church as well as a member of St Valentine Parish Family Circle Club. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2007 and 3 brothers. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be directed St Bede Academy or St Valentine Church.
