Wayne L. Washkowiak

Wayne L. Washkowiak 86 of Peru. Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family December 17, 2023, in St Paul Medical Center Mendota.

The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM Saturday December 23, 2023, in Ptak Funeral Home. Rev Gregory Jarzombek OSB will officiate. Peru Veterans Memorial Group will conduct Military rites. Burial will be at a later date in St Valentine Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 AM-12:45 PM in the Funeral Home. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Ptak Funeral Home has been entrusted with the services.

Wayne was born April 18, 1937, in La Salle to Leonard and Louise (Maas) Washkowiak. He married Elizabeth “Betty” Pyka in 1956. She passed away in 1998. He then married Vickie Tumbleson in 2003.

He was a career Air Force Veteran. Where he achieved the Rank of Staff Sargeant. He was stationed in Germany and Korea during his military career. He worked at Westclox and Eagle’s Grocery Store and then retired from Maze Nails after 50 years.

Survivors include his wife Vickie and her children Michael Tumbleson and Shelley (Tim) Schneid. His son Chris (Tracy) Washkowiak and daughter in Law Cynthia. Grandchildren Dani (Ryley) Bunzell, Matthew Beckerleg, Jake (Katie) Washkowiak and Mikki Washkowiak, Crystalynn Washkowiak and Alexandra Washkowiak Alexander Tumbleson, and Kylie Brock, Nick (Jen) Brolley, Ella (Clint) Dalrymple, Hilliary (Alec) Schwab, Sam Brolley, and Simon Brolley. Great Grandchildren Isaac, Bernadette, Joey, Cruise, Dean, Knox, Leo, Ollie, Macklin, Raymond, and Colette. His sister Audrey Bernardi and brother Dale (Janice) Washkowiak and a sister-in-law Sharon Washkowiak and Several nieces and nephews.

Wayne was preceded in death by his first wife Betty. His son Michael Washkowiak and daughters Melanie and Kathleen. And a Granddaughter Mashera. His brothers Gerald and Bruce Washkowiak.

Pallbearers will be Dale Washkowiak, Jake Washkowiak, Ryley Bunzell, Tim Schneid, Mike Tumbleson, Steven Bernardi. Honorary pallbearers will be Alexander Tumbleson, Joey Bunzell and Bernadette Bunzell
