William A. "Bill" Dekowski

William “Bill’ Dekowski 74 of Peru. Passed away October 4, 2022, in his home. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Friday October 7, 2022, in St Mary’s Church Peru. Fr. Gary Blake will officiate. Burial will be in St Hyacinth Cemetery. 

Visitation will be Friday Morning in the church from 9:00 -10:45 AM. Ptak Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. 

William was born December 18, 1947, to Anthony and Marie (Kolterman) Dekowski. He was Probation Officer for the La Salle County up till his retirement. He was also a member of the AFSCME Union. William was a EMT with the Peru ambulance. He was a member of St Mary Church, where he sang in the Choir for many years. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St Mary, and St Valentine Church. He was server, reader and Eucharistic Minister at St Valentine and St Mary Church. William also taught CCD and he also taught at Marquette High School. 

William was a 4th Degree Knight with Fr Marquette Council #1775 in Utica where he was currently serving as Deputy Grand Knight. He served as District Deputy for the Illinois State Council of the Knights of Columbus. William was also a Benedictine Oblate (St Bede) and was a Catholic Seminarian with the Dioceses of Peoria.  

William is survived by numerous cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters.
